ZenGrants Review 2026: Is It Worth Paying For?
We compete with ZenGrants for some customers, so read this knowing that. Prices, plan limits and data terms below come from ZenGrants' own pricing page, terms and privacy policy, read on the date above.
Is ZenGrants worth paying for?
ZenGrants is worth paying for if you are a UK founder or SME manager who will write an Innovate UK or UKRI application yourself and wants AI drafting help built around those funders. Pro costs £69 a month, or £55 a month billed annually, and covers three active projects and ten full drafts a month; Max costs £99 a month, or £79 billed annually, for ten projects and thirty drafts. There is no success fee and no equity stake, which makes it far cheaper than a consultancy for a single bid. It publishes no free trial, offering a free 30-minute scope call instead, and it does not refund unused parts of a billing period. Its terms promise never to train AI on your content, and data is stored in London. It is run by a Delaware company, SCS Ventures, LLC, and has no independent reviews yet. EchoGrant, which publishes this review, competes with it for some customers.
ZenGrants pricing
Two plans, both with access to its “Pro AI models, unlimited AI consultant chat, and standard email support”. Annual billing is a 20 per cent saving. The homepage plan cards show the annual per-month price by default, so check the toggle before you compare it with anything else.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Monthly limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | £69 a month | £55 a month (£662 a year) | 3 active projects, 10 uploads per project, 10 full drafts and 3 deep research runs a month |
| Max | £99 a month | £79 a month (£950 a year) | 10 active projects, 20 uploads per project, 30 full drafts and 10 deep research runs a month |
Set against a consultancy, the numbers are stark. A UK grant consultant typically charges £2,000 to £15,000 for one application, often with a success fee of 5 to 15 per cent on top. A year of ZenGrants Max costs £950. What the subscription does not buy is anyone else's time: you still do the thinking and the writing.
What it does
ZenGrants describes itself as “the compliance-first AI writing assistant for UK innovators”, “built for founders who need funding, not consultants”. It supports Innovate UK grants and UKRI funding, and names three audiences: startup founders from pre-seed to Series A, SME managers and directors, and researchers and spinouts. The plan limits count active projects, document uploads, full drafts and “deep research” runs, which is the clearest sign of how it works: you load your project material and it drafts answers against the competition.
It is a tool, not a service. There is no human writer or reviewer in either plan, and no grant search: it assumes you already know which competition you are applying to.
Data, company and reviews
Data. Its terms say it “will never use Your Content to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve AI or machine learning models”. Its pricing page says data is stored in UK-region infrastructure (europe-west2, London). Its privacy policy adds that standard Gemini API calls “may be processed on Google infrastructure outside the UK/EEA”, which matters if your application contains confidential technical detail.
Company. The terms name “SCS Ventures, LLC … a Delaware limited liability company operating as ZenGrants”. We found no UK company registered under the name. Its working domain is zengrants.co; zengrants.co.uk and zengrants.ai did not resolve on the day we checked.
Reviews. We found no ZenGrants listing on Trustpilot, G2 or Software Advice. A Capterra UK listing exists but we could not load it to confirm whether it has any ratings. For now there is no independent customer evidence either way.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
It may suit you if
- you will write the application yourself
- you are applying to Innovate UK or UKRI
- you want a known monthly cost and no success fee
- you apply often enough to use a subscription
Look elsewhere if
- you want a person to write or review it
- you are a charity applying to trusts or the Lottery
- you need help finding which grant to apply for
- you need a UK-registered supplier
Alternatives
GrantIQ combines grant search with drafting, from £39 a month, with a 14-day free trial and no card required. Grantify adds capped human adviser time to its platform, publishes no price and charges a commission on the award; see our Grantify review. GrantUp is a consultancy that writes the application for a fixed fee; see our GrantUp review. The full field, with prices, is in the best AI grant writing tools for UK businesses.
EchoGrant, which publishes this page, does something ZenGrants does not: a review of an application you have already drafted, scored against each of the funder's published criteria and returned as written feedback, for a fixed £250. Plenty of applicants draft with software and then pay for a review before they submit. If what you want is monthly drafting software, ZenGrants is closer to that than we are.
Questions people ask
How much does ZenGrants cost?
ZenGrants Pro costs £69 a month, or £55 a month billed annually (£662 a year). Max costs £99 a month, or £79 a month billed annually (£950 a year). Prices were checked on zengrants.co on 12 October 2026. There is no success fee and no equity stake. Its homepage shows the annual per-month prices by default, so the £55 and £79 figures you see first assume a year up front.
Does ZenGrants have a free trial?
Not that it publishes. On 12 October 2026 the word “trial” did not appear on its homepage, pricing page or terms. What it offers instead is a free 30-minute scope review call. Its terms say it does not give pro-rated refunds for unused parts of a billing period unless the law requires it.
Is ZenGrants a UK company?
No. Its terms name SCS Ventures, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company operating as ZenGrants, and a Companies House search found no UK company of that name. It does say customer data is stored in UK-region infrastructure in London, with the caveat in its privacy policy that standard Gemini API calls may be processed outside the UK and EEA.
Does ZenGrants train AI on my application?
Its terms say it will never use your content to train, fine-tune or otherwise improve AI or machine learning models. It runs on Google’s Gemini models, and its privacy policy notes that standard Gemini API calls may be processed on Google infrastructure outside the UK and EEA.
What is the difference between ZenGrants and Grantify?
ZenGrants is self-serve software with published monthly prices and no success fee: you write the application with its help. Grantify sells packages that combine its platform with a capped number of hours of a human adviser, publishes no price, and its terms include a commission on the award. Choose ZenGrants if you will write it yourself and want a known monthly cost; choose a consultancy if you want someone else to do the writing.
