Knowledge Transfer Partnerships place a graduate or researcher in the business part-funded by government. The recurring constraint is that funders want work the company would not otherwise do, so business-as-usual product development rarely qualifies, and the strongest applications are the ones that can name the technical uncertainty the funding removes.
